bronco1[1] ASCII art has been around for ages but Matt has created a way to create to convert images into ASCII text for web pages. Matt explains how he does the color conversions and how he gets data from the image to text. One major thing he stresses is you must use a monotype font. What is a monotype font? It is a font that has all the letters with the same width. Examples of monotype fonts are Terminal, Courier New, or Lucida Console. Without using a monotype font in such an application will cause the image to distort every line.
