If you think you cant make a profit, then just dont do it

Heard this on NPR the other day, a guy talks about how walmart lowers new book price to something like $3.99(?), or even 1c lower than target, blah blah. He said that it's no longer $29.99 so they wont be able to publish books in future. Also 'if new movie DVDs are $5 each, there wont be any movies'.

B.S.

Most of those expensive books are just crappy ones any way, they mark the price high so the publishing company and publisher can make a huge profit on it even when they dont sell a whole lot, same for the movie. If they can only sell book/movies at $5 each, there will be many smaller publishers or people can just publish the stuff themselves online. Let those associations and big firms who are trying to make huge profit on OTHER pepole's work go belly up. I am pretty sure there will be many new books, many new music and movies out there even when they only ask for small amount of money. There might be less special effect, less polishing up but there will also be more talent, more good new songs and movies everybody can enjoy without those big box office names.

Same kind of barrier exists in finance, realty industry and practically every where else. The brokerage system and MLS system are the ones causing those extra greedy people to try their best to get their money while putting the entire society at maximum risk. That's CAPITALISM, that's FREE MARKET, it never worked on its own, it will never on its own.
